Cellulite Treatment at Gateway Aesthetic

Cellulite is one of the most difficult conditions to treat. Cellulite is predominantly a problem in females and mostly affects the thighs and buttocks. Cellulite has 3 components that include: 1) fibrous bands that pull the skin down causing dimples, 2) fat herniation causing bulges in the skin, and 3) skin laxity causing folds and creases.

At the Gateway Aesthetic Institute, we have the following options that can help:

Cellulite fibrous band subcision: Treatment of the fibrous bands is performed with a new instrument invented by Dr. Mark B. Taylor called the “Taylor Liberator”. The tool is inserted through a tiny incision in the skin about 1/8 inch in length. The skin is made completely numb with diluted anesthesia and the fibrous bands are released allowing the dimples to pop up and have more uniform texture with the surrounding skin.

Liposuction:  If fat herniation and bulges are present, fat can be removed with liposuction to get rid of the bulges resulting in a smoother skin surface.

Cellulaze: If skin laxity is present, laser and radiofrequency skin tightening can help to tighten the loose skin.  Subcision, fat reduction, and skin tightening can be performed at once with a combined procedure called Cellulaze. As an FDA-approved laser treatment, Cellulaze treats cellulite by first inserting a small laser probe underneath the skin. The laser then subcises the fibrous bands that cause the puckering appearance of the skin. Cellulaze also stimulates collagen production to increase the thickness of the skin. The procedure is comfortable, has no significant downtime, and is performed under oral sedation and local anesthesia. Cellulaze can also be used to melt the fat bulges that can then be removed with suction.

Nonsurgical treatments for Cellulite:

Z Wave by Zimmer: The Z Wave uses pulsed acoustic waves to penetrate the skin. The Z Wave is used to improve the appearance of cellulite but can also aid in fat reduction and skin tightening. The procedure is virtually painless and takes only minutes to treat. The pulsed acoustic waves help break down the fibrous bands that create cellulite and produce collagen to tighten the area. A series of treatments may be required for optimal results.

VelaShape: VelaShape III is a non-invasive body shaping treatment used to reduce cellulite. The VelaShape combines four different technologies: infrared light, radio frequency, vacuum, and massage to improve the appearance of dimples, fibrous bands, and loose skin. A series of treatments may be required for optimal results.

Med Sculpt: Med Sculpt uses massage and ultrasound technologies to smooth the skin and considerably reduce the subcutaneous fat in the areas treated. The Med Sculpt machine is fantastic for targeting pre- and post-liposuction treatments.
